Researchers from Rutgers University and the Georgia Institute of Technology found in an analysis that from 2000 to 2012, home ownership among immigrants fell - but the decline of immigrant home ownership was less severe when compared to native-born home owners. The researchers suggest that immigrants were able to leverage birthplace networks, a unique characteristic to immigrant home owners.
"Birthplace networks, a social network of friends and family from the same country of origin, often provide immigrants with capital to purchase a home or maintain ownership during hard times," researchers hypothesized. Read More Realtor Mag

NAR Realtor MagFrom 2010 to 2020, immigrants could account for more than one-third of the growth in home owners as well as one-quarter of the growth in renter households, according to the Research Institute for Housing America.
