Throwback Thursday--Christmas in Buffalo NY

Christmas at the Riches

Wow, do we look like one of those old sit-com families or what??  My gorgeous parents, Mickey, my dad and my mom, Pat, the daughters dressed like The Bobsy Twins (we weren't, but Mom did that to us a lot) and our very first dog, Punchy, our boxer who was instrumental in making me a lifelong dog lover. This was in the living room of our first home in Boston, NY, a very VERY small town outside Buffalo.

Remember the days when you would get dressed up for your Christmas or Easter  family photo sessions? Not sure if they do that much now, but we ALWAYS did, growing up in the early 60's.

And there is something precious about black and white photos that always pull at my photographer's heartstrings.

Gotta love old photos!!! (Thanks, Kerrie for allowing us to indulge in our pasts for Throwback Thursdays, my first entry into this Thursday foray).

Michele, my mom has always had a good sense of humor and she most likely was the one to name Punch. She lived to be 13 and was my "older sister". She was a GREAT dog and everyone in the neighborhood loved her. (And we boomers were quite plentiful in our community!)

Sheila, in looking at this (Mom just sent this in an e-mail), I guess I haven't changed that toothy smile much!

Kristin, my dad, my HERO is no longer with us on this plane...he is with me all of the time, I know THAT. I had forgotten how very handsome he was. He was such a GUY.

He was so very white blonde and had what he called a "brush cut", so in this to those who don't know him, I guess he could look bald, but he never came close to that!

Go see your parents!

Liz, you made me laugh--thank you!

Patty, yup, that's me! Our whole family looks very similar. Except for the dog, but NOW I have Goldens, so, gee I guess I can't say that anymore. As a matter-of-fact, that's my dog as my new profile!

Alexandra, well, now, isn't that something??!!! we certainly are kindred spirits.

Gayle-What a wonderful pic. You do still have that beautiful smile. I smile when you talk about NY.  We had a boxer when we were were youngsters and lived in Syracuse NY. His name was Tiny. Funny name for a boxer.

Awe.... this is a precious family shot! I hope you display it on an annual basis for Christmas or Thanksgiving as a reminder of the good old days. What a lovely family you have. You and your sister were simply adorable and it looks like you gave your parents lots of joy growing up as kids. And your mom and dad were both beautiful too!!!

Punchy looks big enough to ride on like a pony! She looks like she was the greatest family pet who minded her manners. As you and your sister grew up, I'm sure she watched over you very well!

Love the photo Gayle!!!
