Driving Safely in Eastvale - Speed Enforcement Update

With school back in session I am driving a lot slower these days. I will not even go over 10 M.P.H. when little ones are dodging about on the side walks next to our busy streets.  Many residents of Eastvale have even voiced their concern about the number of accidents and the speed of traffic near the Rosa Parks Elementary down to Roosevelt High School. This concern has prompted the Eastvale police to begin strict traffic enforcement in this area.

 hooray

Today, 51 traffic citations were issued from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and one car was impounded due to a driver who was driving with a suspended license. This operation is one of many that will be conducted throughout the year with the purpose to slow down the traffic for the folks who are driving above the 25 M.P.H. speed limit in the school zone when children are present. So far so good. Hopefully accidents will decline and our energetic, running about and skateboarding children will be able to get to class more safely as the school year gets under way.

Sarah, it sounds like they're definitely cracking down on speeders in Eastvale. Hopefully it's enforced throughout the school year!

Sarah, I wish more people were concerned about their speed near the schools. It's so important to watch these children!

Maria,

This was the first code enforcement within our City. It was very much needed. The scope that 51 citations and 1 impound occurred go to show how many parents are speeding in our residential zones.

Sharon & Bruce,

We had 2 or 3 close encounters last year where paramedics were called. The city needs speed bumps and/or cross guards in all the residential streets a mile from our local schools.

Suzanne,

I agree with you. I hope the Riverside County sheriff continues with these surprise code enforcement visits. There definitely is a huge need for enforcement close to the High School. Perhaps, the HS parking lot should be closed half an hour before school starts. It is one away to prevent accidents from student/parent speeders and student bikers.

Connie,

Yes, we all need to slow down. Our kids are our greatest treasures.
