Meeting People Where They Are - Communication Strategy

Trying to be creative, I decided not to write with a title. Kind of fun because I feel free - like I can say whatever I want and not be out of topic.

I really love the AR community in and out of the rain. I get to hangout with colleagues that are fun and innovative people. I live in a fairly conservative city and find that many of the real estate agents in San Antonio are somewhat stuck in old ways.  I get it. I mean, most people in SA are from SA and its about who you know, not how to find new people. But for the last 5 years the influx of non SA people has been growing so knowing how to reach these newcomers is important. But really, if I'm totally honest with myself, I just like learning new stuff so I keep on trying new things and learning new technology; the by-product is I meet new and interesting people.

Take Tuesday, for example, I was referred a dental client - I do commercial real estate often - by one of my other dental clients. She's not from San Antonio and she's totally funky. I love it! Already I can see we are hitting it off very well. We had this conversation about how to grow her practice in San Antonio's hottest areas - The Pearl. It's a rehab area of an old beer brewery on the infamous San Antonio River that has spurred all kinds of hipster live-eat-play. She was telling me about what she expects in terms of communication and well, she's her own target market. I turned around to share my ideology on communication as well, and we are now besties!

What's my point?  Try new stuff. Her favorite thing about my communication ideolgy is that I am responsive on whatever platform she prefers - cell phone calls, texts, email, SMS messaging, Google Voice, FaceTime, FB Messaging, Twitter, .....   Given the community we are both marketing - hipsters - our styles were just like a nicely blended Hibiscus tea - harmony and creative.

PS - I named this blog after I wrote it, BTW, which allowed the creativity to flow.

Hi Sheila! Thank you!! Yes, I remember when I first read your blogs, Put a Bow on It! I thought dang, this girl is straight forward and just writes what she wants. Cool beans! Always glad to see your cheerful face on FB too!

I asked my hubby the other day if we had an extra free Southwest Airline ticket and his response was, "I'm not using it to fly that Sheltie here." - LMAO! I hope you'll see this response.  :-)

Hi Cathy. If the Sheltie is still available, perhaps I could give you some miles.

Sheila you're so sweet! Thank you!!  I am seriously still thinking about her. Seems like a good match. Maybe I can get them to shoot a video of her so I can see her personality live, sort of. I'll go check back on your post.

Nice post Cathy. Meeting people where they are is most often very successful, provided that's where you are too. :-)

Donna, half the battle is getting people to where you are my dear. I have a rule that I set up front, three times you're out. I'm a successful agent with a team of pros so the last thing I have time for is somebody who can't find 5 minutes within 24 hours to call me back. That's 1!
