Visit the Community Calendar for the latest events.

April 1-April 5: Trees and Our Planet
Educate yourself, your family and friends, and your colleagues about the important global environmental, health, community and economic benefits of trees.

April 6-April 12: Trees and New York City
Take a walk in the woods. Van Cortlandt Park, the Staten Island Greenbelt, and Alley Pond are among the many New York City parks that provide spectacular forest experiences without leaving the five boroughs. And along the way, don't forget to notice all of the trees along our City's streets, in front yards, business districts and in our community gardens and playgrounds - they are also a part of New York City's urban forest!

Take a walk with the Parks Department's Urban Park Rangers. Find events in your neck of the woods.

April 12 is Hands On New York Day! Gather a group and register today for some good green fun!

April 13-April 19: Trees and Our Neighborhoods
Join a local organization, community garden group or block association and help care for newly planted trees and older trees alike. Every tree needs a steward to survive.

Partnership for Parks regularly offers workshops for tree stewardship and is accepting applications for the Partnerships Academy Class of 2008 .

April 20-May 3: Trees and Me
Commit to planting a tree in your own backyard, request a tree for your street, or organize a tree planting or tree care outing in a schoolyard, playground or housing development. And remember to register your newly planted tree online!

Mitchell, can ex-New Yorkers come up and plant trees?  I'm having another one of my "I want to move back" attacks!

Pat, I'm sure you can. Once a New Yorker always a New Yorker. You can leave the city but the city never leaves you.
