How Many Blogs Can A Blogger Blog?
That title bets for a joke, but I am in a sincere and grateful mood, so will leave that for another time.
So a year with Active Rain taught me a lot of things about blogging. I did a few months of blogging every day in the monthly challenges, participated in blogging contests, took Bob's wonderful seminars about blogging and read many excellent posts about SEO, content, templates, links, and the helpful suggestions about what to blog about. I think I certainly got my money's worth, because when I joined I was just looking for the hard to get links.
Lately I have been spending time on my own blogs, starting a new one, thinking about another, and refining the focus of two others.
Retirement Media Blog is the new one. I am still getting started but it is taking shapes. Having used the Wordpress theme on the other blogs really helped me get a quick start. It is funny how each blog takes on it's own personality. This morning I crafted a page on Retirement Travel. It's nice to have an interest and passion about what you are blogging about.
My blog about Small Towns was my first blog way back in 2006 and I have kept it going all these years. I have lost some of my passion about the subject but that may change when if I move to a small town next year as I plan. There will be plenty of photo ops and new perspectives for me to share.
My blog about baby boomers has turned out to be a big hit and a blog I am proud of. I almost gave up on this blog but had to get the right focus for the blog which I have done. The interest has amazing me. AARP sent me to Boston in May to blog about their national event and Del Webb spent me to Charlotte blog about their active adult community. I have gotten interest from overseas, Australia and Great Britain. The Internet is amazing.
Then I have this Active Rain blog and an outside blog. I love the AR blog, it was my training wheels. But the AR outside blog I don't like as much because I don't own it and it goes away if I don't renew. Please it is very difficult to get it to have enough page authority to rank. So I am thinking about giving that one up and replacing it with a new blog on one of my premiere sites.
So how many blogs would that leave me with? 4 or 5 depending if I go ahead with the new blog. Well I don't know the number of blogs that I should have or can keep up but I think I am pushing it, at least for me. You see I am retired and blogging and publishing about retirement is my retirement job.
I blog because I enjoy it and feel like I am building and sharing something I have an interest in. What a great retirement job blogging is! Is this a great country or what! -Robert Fowler
