August 16
4:00pm to 7:30pm
Hyatt Westlake Plaza
This event will benefit the Ventura County Special Olympics and the Thousand Oaks Rotary Club Foundation. It is an annual event where over a half of a million dollars has been raised in Ventura County alone for the Special Olympics.
Along with tasting of wines from California wineries, there will be live music including Sonny Mone from Neil Young’s band – Crazy Horse, and other performing artists for your enjoyment. Bidding on items for silent and live auction will also be on hand.
Special guests in appearance will be: Rafer Johnson and Terry Schroeder, both American Olympic Medalists.
The Special Olympics is more than a competition event for the intellectually disabled. It trains for social interaction, community involvement, and empowerment, in addition to physical fitness and athletic competition. In Ventura County, there are twenty different locations providing the chance to compete in year-round sports. The excitement mounts in all participants as an event draws near; each one hoping to win, when actually they are all winners just by simply entering the competition.
The event is at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 S Westlake Blvd. (map). For further information visit www.thousandoaksrotary.org.
Come have a wonderful evening of entertainment and delicious wine, while at the same time helping people who only want to enjoy life!
