I left bright and early this morning for a day trip to the L.A. Zoo with my daughter and her family. The photo shows two of my granddaughters watching gorillas behind glass. Actually, it appears Eloise is checking out her new shoes and ignoring the gorilla's antics of swinging from the tree branches. I'm not a huge fan of zoos, but that's another blog, but I must admit I was impressed with the improvements made since my last trip to said zoo in 1991.
Although the L.A. Zoo lags behind San Diego's, vast improvements have occurred in many of the animals' habitats. Its smaller size makes it easy to see in a day and there's even a carousel for kids and adults so inclined, and yes, I was inclined. I rode a giraffe next to my grandson's dolphin. We just enjoyed the moment and although it would have made a memorable video, Thomas, the wise six year old said, "Memories we have all our life, but Grammy you might erase a video."
Well said, Thomas. Thanks for a lovely memory I will have all my life.
