Realtor Poll: Are You a Fox News or a CNN Viewer?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Van West Realty - Greenville, SC Realtor -Short Sale Expert! BIC #69041

OK, let’s all exercise a little honesty on this topic and keep it light, not heavy…

Are you a devout Fox News viewer? Or, are you a devout CNN viewer?

Now, if you watch Fox News are you a “conservative”? Are you a Republican?

If you are a CNN viewer, are you a “liberal”? Are you a Democrat?

Am I crazy, or are these two news networks completely pandering to their target audiences? Do Democrats and “liberals” ever watch Fox News? Do Republicans and “conservatives” ever watch CNN?

Sometimes it just seems so blatantly obvious to me that they are. That’s OK, because at the end of the day, that’s smart business. However, I wish they’d just be honest about who their target audience is, instead of acting like they are not pandering to one side or the other.

I figure if enough of my fellow Realtors were to respond with honest answers, we’ll gain a little insight into the topic. Let’s be honest and share some views, but please keep it light and fun…I don’t want to spark any riots between Realtors who have passionate party affiliations or political viewpoints.

Let me know!

I actually watch cnn, fox and msnbc at different times.  I think of myself as a conservative but have been a democrat in the past.  I don't think it is about a label.  Its about the issues.

I've found it's not so much the network as it is the reporters or the hosts of the various shows.

Not trying to defend either I am a conservative and a republican.  I watch Fox and believe that it depends on who you are watching as to what slant you are going to get.  I do not always hear my particular view.  Thank you for asking.

I go with Fox; I gave up on CNN long ago.

Its not just the coverage; its that, like so often in print media, the slant of the publisher dictates the way the news is report. The New York Times is a prime example; if Pres. Bush walked on water across the Potomac, both the NYT and the WaPo would report "President Bush Can't Swim".

I watch them all but mostly enjoy Fox.  However, I can't stand the morning crew on Fox and then do MSNBC.

Don't watch the news...keep your head clean...read good books instead! Quote from Benjamin Franklin "It's my opinion that I have no opinion" be a chameleon you'll sell more homes!

But do watch sports!

I used to watch CNN. I do prefer FOX news these days. Of course, I am of the conservative persuasion. I never really noticed that they target one side or the other. I guess it's possible, but it's also possible that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that when wearing rose colored glasses, the world looks pink!

Neither, I like MS-NBC.  And as an interesting footnote, NPR's audience is fifty percent liberal and fifty percent conservative.

I still do this crazy thing....it is called reading an actual newspaper every day. Keep up with headlines on-line and when I can, I watch one or two evening news shows. Still a Dem. and proud of it.

You have to admit the bias is blatant but I'm with Ron T., I end up watching several just to try and retain a well rounded perspective.  When it comes to the housing market, I find all the news networks love a disaster.  I guess it has little to do with the housing market and more to do with the perceived degree of disaster.

Kirk: Thanks for the welcoming post! I do not watch TV. Public radio, however, I know they are way too liberal, so I try to balance with some on-line news.

I have to say that I like Fox the best.  I think CNN is way too biased... though they all are to one degree or another.  For now, i think Fox is less biased of them all.  We'll see...

Hi Ricky and Wendy,

I'm having fun gathering more opinions on the topic before I "taint the opinion pool" with my own preference!

anyone who can sit through keith olberman's attacks on others on the other side of the aisle for an entire hour has to be made of ice. I can't personally stand listening to it.  CNN"s views have been liberal for years now and often have just 1 republican on a panel of 20 (as seen in recent debates), and i feel fox news is currently the most fair and balanced show considering they at least allow the opposite side to voice in their opinion like hannity and colmes.  MSNBC is by far the least balanced but that's also not hard to believe seeing that olberman is running the show on that network. His "worst person in the world" bit is getting old and lame. Naming only republicans to that list day in and day out really reflects his views and how biased MSNBC's programming is to allow that. Nothing new there though, people by now should know that. Most of us are independent so we do end up seeing what the other networks have to say but i've personally caught them in lies several times now and gave up on viewing them as a substantial source of news. Besides Journalism in 2008 is dead. I can't think of one reporter that doen't have views one way or the other anymore.

IN SHORT, FOX NEWS FTW!
