Memories from my weekend open house

Avocado tree found in the backyard of the open house

Beautiful blooming flower in the front of the house

Colorful flower arrangement in the front patio to increase curb appeal

Playing with angle shots to best show off the new granite counters

Stainless Steel sink  - a desired upgrade for every kitchen

Why did I take these photos?

Photos taken from this weekend's open house besides the typical front image for the buyers. These are photos for me, for my collection, for my memories

.

Avocado trees are my favorite. I have killed over 5 avocado trees in the last 5 years. Can you guess that I don't exactly have a green thumb? So, everytime I see a house with avocado trees, it makes me want to buy the house just because of the tree.

The photo of the flowers remind me of how beautiful the curb appeal was. We all know that buyers make their decision the first couple of minutes when they eye a house. To me these vibrant colors sent me over the edge to want to work extra hard to sell this house. Vibrant flowers, vibrant new painted door absolutely brought out the best of this home.

The last 2 photos of the kitchen sink reminded me to play with light and angle. Be different, think outside the box and most importantly use photos to sell the house.

I think that was a pretty memorable open house. I can see why you took the photos.

I was looking at the picture of the avocado tree and remembering my childhood.  My parents planted an avocado tree at our home here in Sacramento.  It didn't do very well, until we got a second avocado tree. Then they both did exceptionally well.  I don't know of any one in the Sacramento area that has avocado trees, except those from when I was a kid.  I wish they grew better here.

The avocado tree would be nice to have. They say they are good for dropping your cholesterol.

Tammie,

Photos are the best way to capture memories. I am still learning how to focus and shoot.

Myrl,

Growing up my folks had a huge avocado tree in the front year. It brings back so may wonderful memories. Trying to replicate those memories for my kids, but for some reason or other been unable to grow avocado tree in my backyard. Perhaps, I will try planting two trees next to each other.

Than,

Avocados are very healthy for you. It has the good cholesterol. I just love it because of the taste...guacamole, avocado with sugar, avocado with salt, avocado ice cream and just plain avocado...yummy.

I grew up in the Los Angeles area and we had an avocado tree in our back yard. It dropped hundreds of them because my family (immigrants) did not know what to do with them.  My brother finally collected them and sold them to the grocery store

What I would do today for that tree - they're costing me almost $2 at the store.

Margaret,

They are getting costly. The ones I buy from the market seems to be much smaller in size.

I remember driving down to Temecula and seeing orchards of avocado trees...now it is development everywhere. They are becoming scarce and with it the price just keep on rising.
