It is the last Sunday of the month of March and it is a rainy, cold day. Not a great day for House Hunting with clients in the Wilmington, NC real estate market. Not that I had anyone lined up to huntwith. My friend has weekend duty and she just called to report no calls so far this weekend.. So I am laid back on the pull out sofa in front of my TV with my sleeping dog, Darby, at my fee and my kitten, Dewey, stretched out beside me. Aren't pets wonderful?
So what does a Realtor watch on a lazy "day off"? TLC and HGTV. I think that I should be able to use my cable service which also supplies my internet connection as a tax deduction.
Last month I attended my company's convention in Atlanta, GA, where I exchanged business cards and networked with so many Realtors across the country. In my stack of business cards I collected, I had one particular card sitting on my desk last week. It was an agent's card, Sabrina Willis of Anchorage, AL. Today I am watching TLC's marathon episodes of First Time Homebuyers all filmed in 2006. One episode really excited me. Early into the show I shouted out loud... I know her! There she was Sabrina Willis the featured Realtor spotlighted on this show working really hard for her first time homebuyers. In 2006 she was not with my company but she is now. She really did a superb job going above and beyond for her clients. She did everything I would have done and have done. I really love being a Realtor. It feels so good to be able to work hard for your clients and see their excitment over the end result.
Sabrina's card was on my desk this week because I am redesigning my cards and I like her colors. It also served as a reminder to send her a note. Now I have something of value to talk about in my note. In the back of my mind I have thought all week, I'll probably never be sending a referral her way. But two weeks ago, I set out a card I had collected from an agent in Hollywood, CA. My same mindset was, who in the world would I know to send a referral to Hollywood? At my nephew's wedding reception last weekend, I met a friend of the Bride's family. Our conversation turned to real estate. Her son is out in Hollywood trying to become an actor and is renting with three other people. She and her husband are going out there next week to look for a place to buy and wanted to know if I knew any Realtors. There's the answer to my question. One referral coming right up! I am amused by these two cards being my focal point each week.
NEXT CARD. Who will it be this week? Life is so exciting on the real estate roller coaster ride.
(Now if I could just get a paycheck)
