International real estate - Second home or vacation getaway! - I have been meeting with a
developer for the past several weeks and what he has is really something quite special. It seems most of us have traveled to Mexico at one time or another and we always go to great resort places. I myself was just down in Akumal a couple months ago for my sons wedding and it was a vacation that will last forever with all of us.
The conversation always seems to come up, I wonder how much property goes for down here, or I wonder if I could afford a second or third home in a place that is always (or at least almost always) like being in paradise.
Several years ago I met Gary Wright, he is semi-retired (he retired from his full time job many years ago and is now a developer, so nothing retired about this man really) and has had an affair with Mexico for almost 50 years, he has virtually been to every resort town and many prior to them becoming resorts. Places such as Puerto Vallerta, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Acapulco to name a few. Well about a dozen years ago he and his wife were vacationing in Puerto Vallerta and decided they would look into purchasing a second home.
Their biggest reasons were that they had purchased a home in the area about 15 years prior for $25K and sold it a few years later when things were developing for over ten times that amount and he has seen it happen time and time again. As I have said, I have met this man, I have been to his estate in Evergreen, CO and it is very obvious he is a very smart man when it comes to investing in real estate.
He found a parcel of land with his wife that is nothing short of paradise, a quaint Mexican village named Chacala sits on the beach
and the cliffs and hillsides he is developing are some of the most beautiful on either coast of Mexico. Just an hour north of Puerto Vallerta this is truly a magical place, the temperatures are not typical of what one might expect, summers can be warm and a little humid, but the rest of the year the temperature is in the mid 70's to low 80's and there is low humidity, the water is as blue as you will ever find and the sunsets are simply fantastic.
The beauty of his sleepy little pocket is not only how he is developing but the future of the location itself, Mexico has named the area as one of only 5 marina worthy locations along the entire coastline of Mexico, the toll roads that got off to a rocky start are now well on their way to completion, this will bring in the wealthier locals that want a getaway home as well as those from the US and Canada that want that privacy and oceanfront property that they would otherwise pay millions for in the US.
The villas them
selves are being built well above and beyond what you would find even among the best US builders, the homes are built to really capitalize on their location without taking away from the location. Imagine a gated community where you park above the roof-line of your house, you walk through the entryway, down the steps to your main living area, which has a courtyard with an infinity pool that you can swim right up to the edge and look down 200 feet to the ocean below. Then you walk down another flight of stairs to the master bedrooms which are so private the only thing that will ever peak in your window are the whales out in the distance. Another flight of stairs and you have the guest suite. The homes are built into the hillside to really take advantage of the lay of the land.
If you or a client are looking for a second home, a vacation getaway or an investment opportunity, I would be more than happy to make an introduction to Gary, you and your clients will be very impressed and well taken care of.
