Who Writes ActiveRain Posts?

By
Real Estate Agent with Real Living | At Home DC / MD / VA

Everyone on Active Rain wants points, or, as least we look at them.

My habit is to read the Rain usually late at night, when the day is done.

I've noticed all the comments. I've started to notice that most of the people who post comments are Ambassadors and Millionaires.

And so, the point-wealthy get point-wealthier.

The essence however is the behavior.

I've been here this evening taking notes, and now have a half-dozen topics I'd like to write about.

Let's not be a jackrabbit and write them all tongiht (heck, I'm told I could do 20 if I wanted...), but I'll write one.

And I'll think about it.

Earlier this year, I thought I'd spend more time here to read and understand.  I've enjoyed that, but I also need to contribute.

That's the behavior.  And then the points will come, by which point, it's irrelevant.

You are right:) everyone above me who commented are mullioners and ambassadors:) I think, after a while posting and commenting become a habit.

I'm with Inna, posting and commenting becomes a habit. I quit for a while and it too me a few weeks to get back in the habit.

Good morning Claude,

The more you post the easier it gets; as you said it is the topics that are the obstacle for me as well.

Make yourself a great day.

And I'm going to go out a limb here and try to help you have a better experience at ActiveRain.  ... it's important to come back to you own post and comment and acknowledge those who have left comments.  It's part of the building of relationships.  It's also important to visit the blogs of those who have left you comments (again part of the experience of relationships here).

Claude,

Sometimes it's quite late when I'm online too.. and it seems that it's more difficult for me to write late at night.

I do much better in the mornings with my first cup of coffee but it seems that everyone else wants my attention at that time.

Tammy Lankford  Hi Tammy #1 and # 8...going out on limbs is allowed.  You're correct, usually my protocol is to go to the writer's blogs.

Respond on the post is a good idea, even if I get to the guest's blog and respond to them to one of their recent blogs as well. This way, here, they know I'm seen them here.

I'm usually here in the 11pm-midnight window, but I came back early tonight.  Otherwise if people don't respond to guests, it's not community. Thank you for the follow.

Chris Griffith I fully expect once AR is a habit, it's ingrained.

Raymond E. Camp You'd think with our profession and the incumbent drama, there'd be lots to write about.  Often I just presume to leave the drama in a box and not focus on it.

Claude when I joined Active Rain a hundred years ago the first few months all I did was read, then got brave and started commenting... the more I read the more I interacted the more I found my voice. Once I found my voice the points were secondary.... Then  I hit a wall and the old time seasoned Members nudged me and somehow I crossed 70,000 points...then I was hooked... I loved the referrals, the clients reaching out...now it is not about the points anymore....Hope this helps you in some way, Endre  p.s.: I was always a night blogger and in those days there was a way to check who else was on and we built a connection....

I m on the same page with Endre, when you start log in every day, read, comment, follow, make friends, etc. ~ you develop a habit very soon and keep doing it regularly and better:)

Claude, I have been here in the Rain since 2007, and by writing posts and commenting daily, have received MANY referrals and given referrals.    I can truly call many of my subscribers friends.     Like Tammie states, you build relationships.

You are right it is ingrained and becomes habit.  I comment late at night sometimes too, but I also have AR with coffee in the morning.  And from time to time when I'm at my desk pop in too.   Tom's comment made me think of some of my first posts... mine were laughable compaired to now, but learning as you blog is great.  AR university videos are very useful to watch when you have some time.

Endre Barath, Jr.  It seems that one way to become a millionaire is to post for 100 years. I can accept that as one option.

I've found that consitently writing/commenting, the voice comes pretty quickly.

Joan Cox has been here for awhile, though not a century.  And she's a millionaire too.

Inna Ivchenko and Raymond E. Camp and Chris Griffith are the only people here (other than myself) who don't have 7 figures.  Did we all notice that it's not rocket science? Communication and community also lead to points.  But those that have the points don't worry about it because the other benefits overshadow that.  Nice.

Tammy Lankford Point taken, I've got to go watch me a few AR Univ mini-courses.  Thank you for that.

I've done some Raincamps way back when.  And a few meetups, but there sure is room for more meetups.

Hi Claude,  We all started at the bottom where you did.  It took me several years to get the feel of what a blog is all about.  It may take some time, but it will all fall into place.

Claude, I don't think the time of day that you visit or comment in AR makes any difference...that you contribute does!  I don't always comment individually to members visiting my posts, but I ALWAYS leave general comments or address specific questions or points of view that visiting members bring up, keeping the conversation alive.  I also, ALWAYS, visit the individuals posts and leave a comment.  Tammy Lankford, and others have left you with spot on comments. Points have been important to me in that they show dedication and hopefully express a higher level of involvement in my profession.  I've made some great friendships, given and received many referrals and think in part some of that is do to my presence and in AR.
