Message From The Principal!
The Rover School Mission Statement is "Inspiring every child and every adult to be excelling learners, empowered individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors every day." The message from the principal says "Rover is a diverse community of learners who choose to come together to pursue excellence in their education. We are committed to a rigorous instructional program for all students, helping every child reach their fullest potential. We are also committed to providing our students with instruction and opportunities that help them develop beyond the 3 R's, a curriculum supportive and inclusive of the arts, including the visual arts and performing arts, as well as the language arts. We give students the resources they need to be college and career ready." The Arizona Department of Education has issued this school a letter grade of "B".
Excellence Begins With Experience Corps
In 2006, an exciting program was launched in Tempe School District 3, a program where adults aged 50 and older work with first, second and third grade students one-on-one or in small groups to improve their literacy skills and self-confidence. The tutors are community members who have expressed an interest and willingness to make a difference in our children’s lives. Since the program began, tutors have logged more than 35,0000 hours helping more than 2,000 children in nine Tempe Elementary School District schools. This Excellence Begins With Me video celebrated this wonderful program—AARP Experience Corps Tempe—and the 78 incredible volunteers who truly make a difference for our children.
KID ZONE ROCKS!
Before and after school child care is available at Rover Elementary School through the City of Tempe's Kid Zone Enrichment Program. The Kid Zone's goal is to create memorable childhood experiences everyday, through age appropriate enrichment learning in a safe and nurturing environment. Kid Zone also offers summer enrichment programs for kids in Kindergarten – 8th Grade. Flexible 2, 3 and 5-day schedules are offered, as well as full-day or half-day options. Camps meet in five locations from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. throughout the City of Tempe and run from May 28 - July 25. Kid Zone offers three traditional summer camps along with a camp for Middle School students and a specialty Sports Camp. All campers will enjoy age-appropriate curriculum and daily enrichment classes that include foreign language, STEM, nutrition, dance, theater, fine arts, leadership and sports activities. Camps will also include weekly field trips and special events. The Kid Zone program and its staff are DHS licensed and DES certified.
