Connolly Middle School is located at 2002 East Concorda Drive in Tempe and is home to 1,054 students from 6th to 8th grade.  This school has 3 out of 5 stars on Schooldigger and a 6 out of 10 rating at GreatSchools.  Connolly Middle School ranked better than 59.4% of middle schools in Arizona and is the top middle school within the Tempe School District.  This school has a diverse racial makeup and boasts a low student/teacher ratio of only 15.4.  This school provides the ASPIRE Academy which is a program for the most academically gifted middle school students.   These students enjoy the challenge and love the program "I am a seventh grader at Connolly and I really like this school. The teachers give homework but there are always fun things to do in class. This year, we went on a field trip to the Arizona desert, looked at Jupiter through a telescope. We had a Stargazing Event. It was so much fun. There are super electives too. I love FACS. We get to cook and sew. There's music, PE, computers, Spanish and more. I have so many friends at Connolly and we do fun trivia during lunches and the social dances are a blast. "  Parents also endorse this school "This school is a hidden gem. My daughter is a student in the Aspire program and she is just thriving. She loves ALL of her teachers and comes home from school saying that she has never laughed so much. The academics are outstanding with amazing teachers. She is also in the orchestra program which is equally impressive. Personally, I think that the only reason why this school is rated 6/10 and not 10/10 is because it draws from a lower socioeconomic area and 70% of its students are on free or reduced lunch. If this school were located in a wealthier area it would be held up as one of our nation's best schools. I like that my daughter is being exposed to students from all cultural and economic backgrounds- it's representative of real life. I don't have anything negative to say about Connolly. The Arizona Department of Education issues letter grades and Connolly Middle has a "B" grade.  Arizona's Department of Education issues grades on a calculated formula based on the number of students who pass and the amount of academic progress each student makes each year.  What makes this school unique is stated by the principal "Connolly Middle School offers a unique educational experience because of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. We are recognized as an AVID National Certified School and are proud to be an AVID National Demonstration Site. Research validates that the AVID college-readiness system works for all students. AVID’s proven methodologies implemented throughout each subject increase rigor and promote academic achievement for general, gifted, and special education students. Connolly’s west campus is home to ASPIRE Academy, which is designed for the most academically gifted middle school students. ASPIRE teachers regularly challenge students intellectually and creatively to reach their full potential." 

KID ZONE ROCKS!
Before and after school child care is available at Connolly Middle School through the City of Tempe's Kid Zone Enrichment Program. The Kid Zone's goal is to create memorable childhood experiences everyday, through age appropriate enrichment learning in a safe and nurturing environment.  Kid Zone also offers  summer enrichment programs for kids in Kindergarten – 8th Grade. Flexible 2, 3 and 5-day schedules are offered, as well as full-day or half-day options. Camps meet in five locations from 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. throughout the City of Tempe and run from May 28 - July 25. Kid Zone offers three traditional summer camps along with a camp for Middle School students and a specialty Sports Camp. All campers will enjoy age-appropriate curriculum and daily enrichment classes that include foreign language, STEM, nutrition, dance, theater, fine arts, leadership and sports activities. Camps will also include weekly field trips and special events. The Kid Zone program and its staff are DHS licensed and DES certified.
