Driving back home from the market at the Farm Show, I stopped by Riverfront Park in Harrisburg to take a photo of this beautiful cow, Music Cow Extravaganza. Anyone who knows me well, is aware of my love for cows.
A little history about the life-sized fiberglass cows you may see in Central Pennsylvania:
- In 2004 CowParade Harrisburg was organized as a fundraiser for Central Pennsylvania regional charitable arts organizations.
- One Hundred bovines were painted by mostly local artists and put up for auction. They may be found in all over Central Pennsylvania in such places as train stations, parks, corporate offices, health spas, Hershey Chocolate World and some private residences. We even saw one inside the Orthopedic Institute last week.
- The CowParade is part of an international public art event, starting in 1999 in Chicago, and has been in 79 cities, including Sydney, London, Athens, Lima, and Tijuana, just to name a few. Raising over 30 million dollars, mainly benefiting children, the CowParade events around the world have brought smiles to the faces of a multitude of people.
Music COW Extravaganza is pictured above next to the Harvey Taylor Bridge in Harrisburg, isn’t she beautiful?
