Can We Talk Winter on the Last Week of Summer?

This conversation I did not think would happen on the last week of summer by any means...talking about winter and the harshness of the snow ahead.  That is why we live here in RI coastal real estate to experience the 4 seasons, right?!

Winter in RI coastal real estate

By all account the Farmers Almanac says old man winter is not going to be gentle with RI this winter of 2014-2015.  No way!  And we all thought that last winter was one we never wanted to experience again.

It is suppose to be a wetter and snowier winter coming at us.  The snowiest periods will be:

  • Mid- and late-December
  • Mid-January
  • Early to mid-February

The coldest periods will be:

  • Late December
  • Early and mid-January

So I think it is time to look for getaways right now while the getting is good for some place warm...why live through it again...even a 5 day getaway all inclusive is cheaper right now to book.

Just a thought for all of you who can see the palm trees, blue waters and white warm sands right now in your dreams....  Forget about the cold for right now and enjoy the last week of summer.

Our summer temperatures have been very much under the average this year.

Ginny, right now a little wet snow sounds good with the temps here reaching nearly 100 for a week.

Hi Ginny.... if we're going to have a tough winter, I'll be buying an extra ton of pellets this year.... tammy has a woodstove so both homes will be toasty.... I don't know what I'd do without that pellet stove.

I don't know what I would do without my fleece either...already thinking that a couple of short getaways are worth the price to a warmer climate.

I concur with all of Lenn's comments! No winter for me but much of the summer here in middle GA has been mild and wet.

Ginny OK after last year, I don't want to hear or read the words Winter or Snow until it happens, so no more of that :)

This just doesn't seem fair, esp after last winter.  And, the summer has been cooler than usual, too.  But, I think I heard that farmer's almanac is wrong more often than it's right.  Or, was that the ground hog? - Debbie

Good morning Ginny. Sure we can talk winter, but it is going in one ear and out the other. I'm not ready to begin thinking about cold weather. You are always thinking ahead.

Ugh - I'm not ready to think about winter yet.  I just LOVE being able to go barefoot around the house and to wear sandals elsewhere.  I hate hate hate the socks and boots.

I do love winter but honestly, this summer Ginny has been way too cool for me to be ready for the change.  However, your gorgeous photo really entices me to think about bundling up and snowshoeing or sitting by a fire and looking out at a view like this one!

Great post Ginny! You might consider Seattle as a get away. We're supposed to have a very mild winter with higher temps and less chance for snow. Good on you for thinking ahead!
