What a Nice Compliment! But I Don't Have The Listing ...

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Dagny's Real Estate

What a Nice Compliment!   But I Don't Have The Listing ...

I called tonight for an appointment to show a home in Wilton tomorrow.     I did not look up the homeowner's name, as it was an estate... it said to call the owner.... daughter?  son?   I figured that I didn't know whoever it was...

Not a mistake -   I did not know the "owner" - but they knew of me!   I called, saying in my normal way, - "Hello this is Dagny of Dagny's Real Estate.   May I show your home tomorrow-----    ."    The owner said, "Dagny!   Of course!    We know all about you!  We almost asked you to list our house, but.."

I got gutsy, and asked why not?   Bradley Hubbell House in Easton CT

She answered very nicely that she had been shown some homes by another Realtor last year for her mother before she passed away, so they did use that Realtor.   "But," she said, "We know all about you!"

She then went on to chatter all about her mother and the last few years of troubles.      Since this daughter lived in London, and was the only daughter, things were hard from far away.

She will be at the house tomorrow, so I will meet her and find out the good things about her mother's house.   She will explain the reasons that her mother would not leave the house for the convenience of a condo.

I have been marketing to the entire town now for many years, and it's nice to see someone have such a nice reaction to my name.

A moral boost is one thing, but a business gain on top of that is amazing if you can get it! :

Praful Thakkar I am sure the easier business will come as I build my reputation and my branding in towns close by.  It has slowly been building....

Hi Dagny, Laying the ground work establishing your reputation pays such huge dividends that one or two fewer listings won't affect your long term success.

Dagny, perhaps we all feel that unique pang with your story. Nice to have the compliment, but also nice to be remembered enough for a call on the listing. Somehow, we in the field have an awareness consciousness about the matter that does not necessarily extend to former clients, leads, friends, etc. Their loyalty does not always go there. Good wishes on your showing.

Good morning Dagny. The ultimate compliment would of course been, that they listed the home with you, but I suppose the next best thing was the compliment that they did give you.

Hi Dagny.  Bummers.  I hate when that happens.  You want to shout out "I work on commissions not compliments".

... and when you sell it you can ask for a google review from both the seller and the buyer since they'll both love you so much. ;-)

Yes, that is a nice compliment.  And, while you can't win them all, it shows that your marketing and blogging is working.

Dagny, I guess it shows that your marketing is working if people know who you are, and your reputation precedes you. You can't win them all, but I am sure you are going to win a lot of listings because of your efforts.

Dagny, I feel your pain. It's nice to hear they know who I am but a little discouraging to know that they didn't call me for the listing. We must both keep on smiling!
