August in Sandpoint Idaho with Longer Shadows and cooler temperatures

Let me say right out front...Fall has long been my favorite time of year.  Everything seems to take on a softer gentler look.  The shadows are those of any famous artist's brush.  Colors vibrant.  Nights cool...but whoa slow down now!  This is only mid August.

As I left Sandpoint West Athletic Club this morning I could not believe my eyes.  Changing colors on some trees across the way. I had to do a double take.  I had already been thinking the temperatures were cooler.  I am definitely enjoying the morning darkness stretching out more towards 5:30 rather than 4:30, but that is just a preference of mine.

So my curiosity was tweaked.   Sandpoint's weather forecast for the week through Saturday is 73 to 81 degrees.  The lows forecasted 47 to 52.  While that falls for the most part in the averages below I would also like to also mention today was forecasted for 81 and we are at 73.  And today the Nations recorded low of 33 degrees was in, you guessed it, Idaho.

Average temperatures in Sandpoint Idaho for August.  Highs range from 78 to 85 degrees.  The lows range from 46 to 51 degrees.  September 1 through the 15th averages are:  Highs range from 72 to 77, and lows from 42 to 45 degrees.  September averages the 16th through the 30th:  Highs range from 66 to 72 and the lows start kicking in at 37 to 41 degrees.

So while we may be just a bit lower than the August average highs, the days are beautiful, comfortable, and something to be enjoyed no matter your activity for the day.

Mark, you and I are in synch, my friend. I, too just put together a post quite similar in the reflections of summer going away, easing into fall and I, too am sensing that fall and winter are coming sooner. I never listen to the weather, just pay attention with my own sense of the local-gal's-Farmer's-Almanac instincts!

I haven't posted mine yet, so you are a long last summer day ahead of me!

Hi there Mark, we share a fondness of this particular season. You described the reasons perfectly. Enjoy every moment of these waning summer into Autumn days. D

I am glad that Sandpoint has the cooler temps, I actually saw leaves on the ground today.  It won't be long....

Hi, Mark...We are seeing the trees change around here, too. Recent rains have cooled us off, and that's been nice. I also love the fall. There's just something about it.
