Summer Fest is a fun, exciting event usually sponsored by different organizations and featuring live music from both local and nationally known musical talent from a variety of music genres. The event also provides the opportunity to experience a wide variety of food from many local restaurants. Other Summer Fest attractions include comedy acts, shopping vendors, family activities and more.
Laurel Summer Fest is coming to Laurel Park this coming weekend, August 30th and 31st of 2014. This two-day event will feature a performance by Country Music Association award-winning artist MamaDear on Saturday afternoon. The awaited performance of the local favorite Riverstreet will be on Sunday night with a live fireworks display at dark. There will be an excellent treat for barbeque lovers, as there will be plenty of barbeque during the Hawgin’ on Lanier KCBS BBQ Competition going on this weekend. In addition, there will be a Hawgzilla 5K Mud Run, craft and food vendors, a beer and wine garden, helicopter tours, contests, games and activities for kids and more! Among the items that will be raffled is a guitar signed by Kix Brooks, one half of famed country music duo Brooks & Dunn. The raffle will be held to raise funds for the three Hall County firefighters who were injured during a training exercise on July 22. Admission is a one-time payment of $10 and children ages 12 and under are free! Proceeds from this event will benefit the Hall County Animal Shelter’s Adoption Programs, Gainesville Jaycees’ Gut Check program and Empty Stocking Fund.
