I'm also a proud Intel wife, as my husband is an engineer at Intel, and he loves working there. We feel grateful for the opportunity. My husband, like many Intel employees, is not originally from Oregon. He was recruited by Intel from Florida after school and has been there since. If your moving here for a job at Intel there are a few things that you should get excited about!
1.) Aren't you glad Intel has some of their campuses in this beautiful location of Portland Oregon? I mean come on... Portland is one of the best cities in the country, with all the seasons and beauty, Mountains, Oceans, culture, diversity...ok ok I could go on but seriously we have it made here (as long as you can appreciate the rainy season). I tell my clients who move here who are afraid of the cold, rainy, dark months learn to ski or snowboard and you'll be fine! For those of you who are mountain goers you'll know what I mean. Or plan those sabbaticals or vacation days in the winter!
2.) Intel is going STRONG in the Northwest. With the new building being built in Hillsboro; D1x, will be one of the largest factories Intel has built! Which means more employment and with more employment means we need to find you some housing for you Intel folks! 
3.) Another great thing to consider is that if you are moving here and planning to buy or rent, housing isn't out of control in pricing. Yes, it's not the cheapest but when you compare other major high tech cities such as Seattle, San Francisco and other high tech areas of the country you will notice we are a good 30%-40% less in value. You won't be married to your mortgage!
4.) Intel jobs in Oregon are also a good decision as a career move. There are many people who start at Intel and retire at Intel. Why is that? Because Intel offers growth, movement, benefits and more. It's a company that values their employees and make a difference in the lives of those that choose to take advantage of it for the entire length of their career. It's a strong steady company that has one of the strongest profit lines a company can have. Don't you want to work for a company that offers all of this? Of course!
