North Idaho Wind and Lighting Storms summer 2014

North Idaho is used to changing weather.  Of course we all know the ole saying for such a place as North Idaho "If you don't like the weather...stick around for 5 minutes"  I am a big fan of weather and all it has to offer.  Blistering hot days to blizzards, rain, winds, mild.  In fact the more extreme it gets in any direction the more I enjoy it.

This past summer we had two storms that lashed out at all of the North Idaho Panhandle, from Coeur D'Alene to the Canadian border.  Lightning, torrential downpours, vicious winds.  Electric was out from Sandpoint to the border for close to 6 hours.  That was an erie drive home.  Not ONE light to be seen with the landscape being lit up by lightning.

Some areas were out, of, electric, for days.  For as bad as the storms were there was actually minimal damage and no serious injuries.

Mark, you live in a beautiful place. Nature's storms can be fierce. We had a wind storm here a few months ago that pulled trees out of the ground by their roots, too.

Sometimes we have to adjust fast to the changing weather conditions.

Good luck and success.

Mark loved your comment about if you do not like the weather stick around for 5 minutes...that is so different from our climate....you might have to wait weeks before change occurs:)), Endre

Endre Barath, Jr.  I was born and raised in Southern California so I well understand the long stretches of 'no change weather'  As everything, it has its good and bad points.  I prefer the seasons so changes good for me.  Thank you for taking the time to view this video.  Mark

Mark Don, I agree with you - I like seasons!  Michigan, where I grew up, experienced the richness of the autumn season, which I miss greatly here in Atlanta.  There was nothing better for me on a crisp day than to go to a cider mill before Michigan Football tailgating - I miss those days :-).

@Lee Davenport some of our most treasured times are shores of our riverbank never to be seen again.  May your memories of the "tailgates" always remain rich.  Mark
