Book Review: Own Your Future - How to think like an entrepreneur and thrive in an unpredictable economy by Paul B. Brown - I was reading a recent blog post on Inman News and the blogger mentioned this book. Not being one to pass up a good read I picked up a copy and was very glad I did.

The book explains in detail how to prepare yourself for the ever changing landscape of employment and even in the real estate world we are not excluded from down-sizing or right-sizing or virtual companies or others that are making strides to make our jobs irrelevant.

This book was great, and although like the travel agents that have come before me and the video store owners and record store owners I think I have a pretty safe gig as a Realtor, however, it does not hurt to be prepared.

"Own Your Future" Goes into great detail in not only adding strength and value to your current position, but preparing for the inevitable and possibly creating your own business model so you never have to worry about being unemployed again.

This book is for anyone that has to rely on others to earn a living (that is just about every one of us). Own Your Future also had some great advice for those that were out of work and looking for a new career.

I am giving this book $$$$1/2, I would have given it 5$ but I am a Realtor, I am in an industry that will never go away (tongue planted firmly in cheek)

I rate books with a $-$$$$$ rating based on how valuable the book is to my business and how valuable I feel it is to the audience.

  • $$$$$ means that the book is a must have for any library and a good book to refer to anytime you need sound advice
  • $$$$- means that the book is very good and worth reading
  • $$$- means there may be a few nuggets of information, and if you can’t find something else to do go ahead and read this book
  • $$- do not waste your time
  • $- I am sorry I wasted my time and be thankful you saw this book review before wasting yours
