Day Five: Here are the three things I'm thankful for today:

By
Real Estate Agent with Sabinske & Associates, Inc. (Albertville, St. Michael)

Here are the three things I'm thankful for today:

I am so thankful that I still have all of my senses, sight, sound, touch, taste and smell.

One of my early heroines was Helen Keller, and she still is.  No sight, no sound.

Another person I admire is Sarah Ban Breathnach. She lost her sense of taste and smell for a year or so.

Think about losing any one of these senses.  What would you do?  Roll up into a ball or fight for what you have left to work with?

Another thing I am thankful for is the fact that I can live in a society where I am not masked, robed and silent because I am a woman.  And, that I can make choices about when, where and whom I would like to get to know in a more intimate setting.

I am also thankful that I live in a very quiet area with little to no crime.  No one is parading down the street, except little kids, there's no loud noises, except for the occasional fireworks on a weekend night or sometimes an emergency vehicle for a fire or medical emergency. and no one is at my door demanding jewels, money or a hostage.

We have a good life in America.  Call yours precious.

Hi Suzanne, this is a great list of things to be thankful for. With all its problems, we have it pretty good in this country.  I pray I never take my blessingsfor granted.

Happy where you live, gratitude is riches is a great combination. Counting your blessings through out the day is the key to chosing to be happy. The inside not store bought temporary retail therapy, of self medication kind. Great post. The comment about not being covered up, hidden away or held back, surpressed. The Amish ladies I see sometimes I feel badly for and woman's rights, they were long over due and much needed.

There are so many places that women don't have a voice...even in America as Andrew pointed out!  I am thankful that we live in a free country, too, and that I have all my senses...at least the important ones!

Suzanne, those are great things to be thankful for! I would hope that if I lost one of my senses I would be able to cope well and move forward the best I could. People do it every day!

We often take thing and people we have for granted and only if we loose someone or something, we realize how important it was. Appreciating what you have is very important:)
