June 2014 marked the third anniversary of Spokane Foreclosure Tours being offered by Cindy Carrigan and Doc Nicolson. Cindy Carrigan is Team Leader for Five Star Spokane Realty Group and Doc Nicolson is Five Star’s Managing Broker. They developed the concept for Spokane Foreclosure Tours in June of 2011 when Carrigan and Nicolson, both REO Specialists, kicked off their Foreclosure tours for Spokane homebuyers. The unique aspects of Spokane Foreclosure Tours are that they are Spokane’s only free and open to the public tours of foreclosed properties. The concept sprang out of Carrigan and Nicolson’s ten-year history of selling foreclosed or REO properties. REO or Real Estate Owned properties are a class of property owned by a lender. Carrigan and Nicolson have been selling foreclosed properties in Spokane since 2001 and wanted to offer the public opportunities to view and purchase foreclosed properties. On the tour, buyers learn how to successfully maneuver the REO system. Foreclosed properties can often be purchased at up to 30% under market values. This is news that Carrigan and Nicolson want Spokane buyers to know. Due to the amount of experience and advanced knowledge of selling foreclosed properties, Carrigan and Nicolson have learned what red flags to watch out for and what to expect from the process of this specialized purchase.
