Do you know about the "secret" hidden Saratoga Creek Trail located in the La Rinconada area of Los Gatos, Calif.? Truly a "hidden gem", the trail opening is located between two houses. (Click the photo below to see video).
When a person drives to the very end of Bicknell Road in Los Gatos, Calif., there are parking spaces to the left before reaching the dead end of the cul-de-sac. This is open "public" parking for the initiated few who know about this trail.
The very first home I helped a client buy was on Bicknell Road in Los Gatos, which is how I learned about this hidden Saratoga Creek trail.
The first time the buyers and I went to check it out we almost missed it. Just before a person fears being shot for trespassing, the trail entrance appears.
During fall and winter months of normal rainfall, Saratoga Creek accompanies walkers along much of the trail. In the summer, Saratoga Creek is almost always dry.
The Secret Saratoga Creek Trail opening is located between two residential homes: 685 and 687 Bicknell Road, Los Gatos, Calif. (click this link or the photo to see the Hidden Saratoga Creek Trail Los Gatos, Calif. video.) 
Walking the Saratoga Creek Trail is of medium difficulty, mainly rated so due to the rough uneven terrain. There is no handrail, so it is best for adults and older children with supervision.
Saratoga Creek Trail is not recommended for seniors who need assistance (walkers, canes or wheelchairs). While not too steep, the trail does have a constant downward grade when coming from the Bicknell entrance (or an upward slope when coming from the other end).
The trail ends at another hidden gem of this Los Gatos neighborhood, La Rinconada Park.
La Rinconada Park features a par course, benches, drinking fountains, doggy "doo-doo" bag dispensers, picnic benches, a playground, expansive grassy play areas, a tire swing and a tennis court. There is ample car parking along the street.
