Nearly 500 students ages 9 to 14 built robots and brought them to Arizona State University to compete in the annual Arizona First LEGO League state championship tournament! Organized by ASU's Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, it will feature 56 top-performing teams that qualified in a regional event. Teams were scored on design, construction and programming of small, mobile robots made from LEGO MINDSTORMS robotics kits and those kits must perform specified technical missions. With the tournament's theme of "Nature's Fury" student's creativity of their proposed solutions also played a role in their evaluations. Chandler Traditional Academy Independence HawkBots Robotics Club was awarded 1st place at First Lego League regional competition.
