THINGS TO DO IN GOLDEN, COLORADO

The first thing that comes to mind for THINGS TO DO IN GOLDEN, COLORADO is the Coors Brewery Tour.   This experience includes a 30-minute walking tour through the malting, brewing and packaging processes.  And afterwards, the best part is the “fresh beer room” where you can sample their products and shop in the gift shop.  Tours are free of charge and you can do the shortened version, which pretty much skips to the end; sampling!

During the summer months, every Saturday beginning in June and going through October is the Golden Farmers Market.  Booths include garden décor, specialty treats, flowers and plants and of course some of the best fresh fruits and vegetables locally grown.

The Golden Super Cruise happens on the first Saturday of every month, drawing some of the biggest crowds and literally hundreds of classic and exotic cars which cruise along South Golden Road throughout the day and park in various lots along the way between the Sonic Drive-In and Golden High School.

First Fridays in Golden happens all year long but during the summer months, they add in a Street Fair featuring live music, beer gardens and street entertainment.  Most of the retailers stay open late and offer sales and samples hosting visiting artists and offering wine tastings.

The Golden Fine Arts Festival is held every August on 11th Street.  It is considered one of the best arts festivals in the country with art pieces selling at all prices.  Music is also provided and there is no admission fee.  It’s great to just walk around and enjoy viewing the fabulous art and listen to the music and people watch.

Buffalo Bill Days is July 22 – 26.  This dates back to the 1940’s and draws a huge crowd.  It is now the largest community festival held in Golden.  There is live music, classic car show, golf tournament, food and merchandise vendors and many more activities bringing people from surrounding communities as well.

Golden has TEN museums .  They include history, railroads, quilts, art, fossils, geology, mountaineering and living History Park.  There are also four shops featuring southwestern and western art including paintings, sculpture, and pottery.

During the Christmas season, Golden stays busy with everything from a Candlelight Walk down Washington Avenue singing holiday carols to dance performances, wine tasting events, book sales, concerts and much more.

For a town of 7.9 square miles and a population of 17 thousand, THINGS TO DO IN GOLDEN, COLORADO are endless.  And I didn’t even mention the hiking and biking trails, the parks and libraries, water sports, golf, go carts and amusement rides.  Check with the Golden Chamber of Commerce for a full list.

Erik, I clicked on this post first when looking for "local info" in Golden and I am happy to see this type of localism post--so important to attract buyers' attention about the area.
