Negative? Count Me Out!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Buyers' Choice Realty

If you are going to complain about the Real Estate market, count me out!

If you are going to lament about the business, count me out!

Say anything negative and I'll just hear: "Blah, blah, blah, blah..."  I have trained ears; they just won't listen to the naysayers.

Throw me a bone: tell me something you've tried that works in this market and you'll have ALL my attention!

I tell all my agents at every meeting:  "This is the best market to cut your Real Estate teeth on."

I've had EASY.  I've been in this business since 1988; I've seen ups and I've seen dips in the market.  Comfort begets comfort.  Nothing GREAT was ever accomplished out of comfort.

Great ideas ALWAYS stem out of trials and tribulations.  Pain leads to solutions.  This market is a great "Clean up market".  It will clean up all the superfluous agents, all the inept.  The strong will survive AND flourish.  The strong will experiment, brainstorm and think outside the box.  They will find solutions and create a much better business model.  Out of this market a new agent will emerge:  an open minded, intrepid agent, one who will practice the Real Estate Business according to a new set of rules, aided by the latest tools and technology.  This new age Agent will fit the role of "Real Estate Counselor" in lieu of the old "Salesman" label.

I am excited about this market!  Aren't you?

The highest praise I've ever received was from someone who told me that, "when others see nothing but problems, you see opportunities". I truly believe that it's all in your "attytood"!

Mirela - I just WALK AWAY!  I am too busy with the positive to deal with it.  Personally, this is one of the most active times that I have had in the last 7 years.  I welcome the reduction in others....their time has come.

I'm (partially) with you on this Mirela. Some good, capable originators and agents are being adversely affected by this market.

Friends and family have learned to stay away from me with that "doom and gloom" stuff.

Mirela - Good for you.  That's the way to rise above the negative and learn and grow from challenges.  Those who choose to move forward and evolve will leave the rest behind.  The attitude you've adopted is a wonderful example for others to follow.  Thanks for sharing.

I'm a very positive person and I usually hear "have you tried decaff?" from some realtors. They don't like that I'm so positive. How sad.

I thought I revisit this good ol' blog for some fine words of wisdom dispensed by myself to myself.  With this, I will end my 80+ hour week.

Not too shabby: I finally closed the deal from Hell (short sale) and sold 3 more this week.

Now, more than ever it pays to stay positive!

Good evening Mirela,

I agree with your perspective about staying positive during this market correction, but I think you work too many hours!  80+?

Mirela,

I could not agree more !!!  Direct and to the point.  We view this market as ample opportunity to position ourselves as one of the best realtors in our area and to gain market share.  When the dust settles some realtors will be that much more successful and would have established a name for themselves !  That is our goal !
