It might sound silly, but through my self-discovery, I found out the "thing" I desire and dream of is exactly the "thing" I fear. I'm not even sure if it makes sense.
When I first started blogging here in 2006, I quickly noticed some of the realtors who have done this just a few decades before I did. I dream to have their success and I wanted the business volume they did. And of course, just starting out, I wonder if I would ever get there.
My first year of real estate, I made $23,000 - leaving a $55,000 per year corporate job. Wasn't a good equation but I kept at it. The 2nd year, it was better - around $53,000 but it was the 3rd year, that it became something worth looking at (in the $80Ks).
It couldnt have happened until I figured out what was limiting my success - my very own fear of "SUCCESS".
Marianne Williamson's quote changed my life:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Fast forward 12 years later, I define my SUCCESS in the business very differently from when I first started. Who would have known?
