The Red Cedar State TrailREd Cedar Trail

This trail is the third trail and final trail that I will be talking about this week belonging to the Chippewa Valley Trail System.

You will encounter some superior scenery as this 14.5-mile rail trail shadows the steep walls of the Red Cedar Valley from Menomonie to its connection with the Chippewa River State Trail.

This trail passes through the communities of Irvington and Downsville and the Dunnville State Wildlife Area.

trailSummer time activities include Hiking and Bicycling,

In the fall hunting is allowed along parts of the trail, and ample game can be found throughout this area.

In the winter, cross country skiing, and skijoring.

Enjoy the trail and when you are in need of a good forester, remember when only the best will do, call on the WMS Crew!

Bob, what in the world is skijoring?  14.5 miles is certainly a good day of hiking, sounds like a nice spot, especially with the ample wildlife.

Hi John, skijoring is an extremely fun activity combining a large dog or two and a set of cross country skis.  Generally the dog is tethered to a belt that the skier is wearing and the dog will pull while the person skis at an amazing speed

Hi Bob you present the Red Cedar State Trail as a truly beautiful area. I have been up that way many years ago but you make going on a hike sound like a great get away.
