When I first started out in Real Estate ( a million years ago) , my sponsoring broker, a very wise man said, " What you don't do today comes back 3 months later to haunt you". I had no clue what that meant until he explained. "In Real Estate, if you do a deal today, generally it takes about 3 months to close and collect your commission. So if you don't do a deal today...3 months later voila`..... you have nothing." Words to live by in this business. This little thought makes so much sense and gives me incentive to do something productive everyday to enhance my business. If it's a slow day, make calls! Don't just wish for business, go and out and make it happen. Stay focused on what 3 months from now will bring you... or not!

I posted this back in 2010 and am offering it again, because this morning I was thinking, I don't have a closing today...why is that?...what was I not doing 3 months ago?

Your broker knew what he was talking about!  I have a closing Monday, but the pipeline is looking rather slim after that one, but I'm already working on some things for January and that's about three months away.

Great post and advice.  One slow day today will lead to slow day(s) in the future.  Real estate is definatley a business you must be working every day.
