Un-Brand Yourself = Big Marketing Advantage!

By

For the longest time I have been mailing out those “pretty” note cards, flyers, and home valuation type marketing stuff that everyone does. I spent hours making it perfect in every way, only to not get any responses or very few at all.

Not anymore! I learned the K-I-S-S (Keep It Simple Stupid) in marketing is even more important than ever.

In fact if it looks like a 1st grader or kindergartner made it, the better. Why?

Anything that looks like corporate junk mail is just that…junk.

Here is what I am trying now:

-shrink your marketing down to a small letter.

-print with black ink on plain paper. No logos, fancy graphics, etc.

-use color envelops and hand write the addresses on them.

-no pitch, no gimmicks, just state the message you want.

Example - Find out your home’s value by going to www.mywebsitehomevalue.com

Bottom line: If it looks like corporate junk mail, it does not work. Make it messy instead!

Good advice, Kevin

May I add, don't use a Postage Meter or basic U.S. Stamps on the envelopes.   Go to the Post Office, buy commemorative stamps and use them.

Kevin - Hand written always stands out, and while it isn't print perfect, people notice it!   Great tips on ways to stand out these days!

Simple marketing message - tell clients what you want them to know, not slick phrases or gimmicky lines.  Be straightforward and clear.

I use a glossy post card printed with our brokerage name and my picture on the front side. The back side is blank and I write personal messages. I use an envelope for each mailing with a pretty FOREVER stamp.

I like your idea and my try that in the future.

Farming works if done right.. real estate market penetration means go after listings. Have the healthy inventory of property for sale. Direct mail to 38 towns around our office location means lots of new listings. Do it as often as it works and change the approach if missing the target you are after, need for greater market share.

I think postcards work from agents who have their signs everywhere but if I don't have a sign in the neighborhood, I'm probably going to have a tough time.
