I am sitting at my home in Haiku, listening to some much needed rain falling that is making my plants very happy. Maui is buzzing with big surf that has arrived on the island, waves coming all the way from Tahiti.
Saturday night was jazz night at the Spreckelsville Country Club with some good friends enjoying dinner, and music under the stars, it doesn’t get any better than this. These are the simple things in life that make island living so special.
Sunday I took a drive to Lahaina side anxious to taste some of this strong swell that has arrived in the islands. Driving along the coast, checking out my favorite spots, I pull over for a spot check at 1000 peaks. The wind is still, and the waves are glassy, and looking really fun. After applying some sun screen and surf wax I paddle out to enjoy some excellent Maui surf. The sets are bombing, and I snag a couple sets, flying down the line. I am thinking, yes another perfect day in paradise. After finally getting my share of surf, it’s time to head back to Haiku.
I love the drive pass Hookipa Beach Park, the surf is smaller but supposed to be building over night with a new west swell. We been having just perfect weather, hot with still winds, the ocean has been just beautiful.
So back home in Haiku, getting settle in for the evening, I am awaken by the soft pounding of island rain. The rain is so welcome, I can hear my orange and avo trees smiling. So waiting for the sun to arise to another day in paradise, early morning surf check before heading to the office in Wailea, life is good living on Maui. So as they say, lucky we live Maui, another awesome day in paradise.
