An Easy Lesson to Forget

Here is a lesson I was taught years ago and is so simple it is easy to forget. The lesson is this, keep reminding people you are in Real Estate, even your friends, because they always forget.

Talked with a long time friend (20 years) yesterday about a non RE related issue. We talked for a while he said "hey I have a house for sale not far away, want to see it?" Of course I said, and as he drove over to his neighborhood I asked, why didn't you call me? I would have loved to help you sell the property. He looked at me with a stunned look and said, "Dale I completely forgot, your in RE."

Yes Kevin I am and I forgot the basic lesson to keep reminding people.

Is this someone you speak with 2-3 times a year? If so, he did not forget. He actively chose to work with someone else and this was his "out".

This happens to all of us, but you are right. Contacting our sphere multiple times a year is important.
