I was fortunate today to watch 25 Korean Vets and their escorts load up on a Charter Bus and head to Kansas City to board a flight to DC. I am impressed with how many of our Veterans have been able to travel on these flights.
All the Vets who were left from WWII that wanted to go on the flights have went already and now the committee is sending the Korean War Vets.
The Vets bus was escorted on the highway by the Patriot Guard motorcycle club who are mostly Vietnam and later veterans!
Sadly, some who were on the early WWII flights a few years ago have been laid down for the final time as age and time have overcame even the strong!
Every time I hear of a WWII Vet passing I say a prayer of thanks.
A prayer that Thanks them for the sacrifices made back then and for the ones who never made it home and for those who suffered for years as a result of the fighting.
I also do this each time I know of someone who fought in later wars and have now lost their final battle on Earth.
I wish these Korean War soldiers and their escorts a fun journey...and a safe ride home!!
And to each of them...and their families...
THANK YOU!
The bus is rolling past the Great Platte RIver Archway in Kearney, NE!!
Until next time...
