I met a Realtor the other day who informed me out of the blue, that "no Stager is perfect". My back went up and I replied "nor Realtor".
While thinking about it later, I realized what the Realtor was missing was the concept of having a team member. We Stagers become part of the selling team.
The key thing is to find that team member that matches your selling style. We are all individuals with our own style. We learn how to do a job and then apply those principals with our own style.
For example, there is the issue of depersonalizing a house. This is done to keep the buyer focused on themselves and not on the seller's lifestyle. Buyers should remember their favorite feature of the house not how cute the seller's kids looked in a photo.
I didn't get a job with a team because I do recommend removing family photos. Photos can even form clutter if there are several sitting on a table top. They felt family photos were what kept the house from feeling cold. I like to keep that 'home' feeling by working with the seller's possessions and individual style.
Don't write Stagers and Staging off because we are not perfect.
Keep searching until you find that great fit for your team.
