Wow, one of them has over 270,000 views; another has over 150,000 views, and then one has 40,000 and another 22,000.

Hi Craig, thanks as I don't have the time ( or inclination ) to research the heck out of every new tool out there...the fact that you often do - BONUS. Thanks again for all you do, and your willingness to share it with us.

Thanks for the update. Just upgraded my maps. I noticed you couldn't do hyperlinks in the annotations anymore. Do you know if there is a way? For example, I have a map with all of the New Home communities. I had labeled them and put a link to my website to the page that pertained to that community. Here's what I'm talking about...https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zdi449RUSL0Q.kkWb17Xk1dGQ

Foster Smith Charleston :: I had to go back and check out the hyperlink option. I was able to do it and added hyperlinks in the two pushpins in my custom map above (you may need to hold Shift when you click refresh to get it to update from your cached version). Each marker has a description box where you can put additional text information. Although, there is no button to "insert hyperlink" you can put any http:// type text reference and when you save it, it will become a clicakable hyperlink.

Hi Craig,
I noticed that my photo and gmail address show up in the upper right hand corner of your Statin Island map when I look at your post. That's either cool or creepy.

Carol Fox :: Your photo in the map box reminds you that Google recognizes you as being logged in. Sometimes it will overlay custom markers on maps like your "starred places" if you have any. It is letting you know that the map is custom just for you and that your starred places are only visible to you, not to others. Also, because you are logged into Google, you can share the map various ways if you wanted to do so.

I'm in property management and handle over 200 rentals, mostly single-family homes. A customizable map makes it easier for me to keep track of all the properties, particularly when creating maps for vendors so they know where to go. Unfortunatley, I've found the newest maps to be a little slow on my computer and I find it frustrating to work with. I hope they are able to speed it up soon.

Craig -- Thanks for the tutorial. I'll look forward to the full lesson. I have noticed that a few of my maps created under classic maps no longer work in my blog posts. Any idea why this would happen? Do I have to go back and redo all of them?

I can't wait to try these new things out. In my commercial real estate business, maps are very important in my presentations.

Barbara Altieri :: hmmm - you should not have to redo any. If you go to your my maps list, they all should have imported from old to new format. You may have to get a new embed code for the newer version of the map that it imported. Once you find the previous map in your list, open it for editing and that is where you will be able to get a new embed code like I show in the video.

Hi Craig Daniels - when you use Google map images in articles, what citation do you have to provide so that we aren't open to copyright infringement?
Roy Kelley
Gaithersburg, MD
Eric Boucher :: Whenever you put a google map on your site with the iframe embed code, you automatically get all the attribution to Google that they require. However, if you were to do a static screen capture as an image, you must always leave whatever attribution text is at the bottom of the map on the image. You can see the Google maps TOS on this page and note point 9.4 specifically. Basically, they require you to maintain attribution for using their material.
