Cedaredge Chapel of the Cross Celebrates 25 Years
The Chapel of the Cross in Cedaredge has the most beautiful setting. The grounds are wonderfully maintained and there are large trees that are a testament to Cedaredge's Tree City USA Designation. This year The Chapel of the Cross turns 25. If you are somewhat new to town...you might think it was older because of the design and because it's part of Pioneer Town, but the chapel is somewhat new to the old town of Cedaredge.
To mark the anniversary many people got together for a ceremony called "25 Years of Love and Music".
Don and Inez Petersen are the couple that took the dream of this chapel and made it a reality. They are no longer with us, but this celebration was a tribute to them as well. There were two musical performances, and afterwards a presentation at the Stolte Shed.
The chapel is open for a variety of events...wedding and music performances are a local favorite. Since November of 1989, the chapel has played host to over 500 weddings and 600 musical performances.
This is a favorite area and building of mine to photograph. The deer love the park setting and the floors are amazing in the summer. Anytime of the year is a great time to visit the chapel.
The Chapel of The Cross hosts a summer concert series that runs every Thursday from June through August and on most Sundays.
The Chapel of The Cross in Cedaredge, Colorado is open all summer for anyone that needs a place to reflect or unwind. The Chapel is the site of many local weddings, marriage vow renewals and other ceremonies. The Chapel opens for the season in early May and stays open until Color Sunday. It also opens up for AppleFest Weekend. Color Sunday this year is 9/28.
