I received a great article from AT&T Internet Service Customer Care on Year-Round Digital Safety. Their points are well made and worth repeating!
It’s up to parents to educate their children to protect them when their online. Learn to practice “CGLGR!”
Connect with your kids, opening dialogue about the risks of all online connections. Make sure all communication lines are open!
Gain Access. Make sure you as a parent have passwords for all your children’s media accounts and passcodes to their devices. You should have full access at any given time.
Learn the technology. Research and educate yourself on all devices your child uses. You want to stay one step ahead and know more about what is available and how they operate than they do!
Get social. Keep abreast of the newest and latest social networks..stay informed of what sites are important to your child and their friends. You don’t have to create an account but understand how the sites work and check out what your kids are doing on them.
Reputation management. Educate your children that whatever they post online is out there for eternity!
Our kids are tomorrow’s future..let’s make sure we are educating and teaching them to be productive, caring adults. The global economy is changing the world we live in so let’s do our best to instill in our younger generation responsible behavior.
