Parents - are you involved in your teens Online behavior?

Dorie, I know what I see on my niece's FB account concerns me.  Teenagers are considerably different than the same age in my day.  Bill 

Dorie - This advice is imperative.  I have become aware of couple of suicides in which the buyer has chosen this course.

Parent involvement is so important. Actually everyone in the family should stay in communication.

Dorie, great advice for parents or anyone who is supervising young people monitoring to protect them against cyber bulling when it comes to technology.

Many people/parents just don't know how to operate technology and need to get involved.

If I had young children, I'd do all in my power to be very aware of what they are doing on-line.  It's a dangerous place.

So important Dorie. This IS  happening and much too often. Parents NEED  to be involved!

My grandson is eleven. His mom and my son keep a close eye on his Internet activity as well sa being involved in all he does. The world is a scary place these days from bullies to predators!

Good morning Dorie. You have brought to light such a very important subject! We are constantly talking to the daughters to keep an eye on their teens and pre-teens activity online. We can never be too careful.

Thank goodness those years are behind me.  But yes, I was like her own personal mommy stalker.  At the time I wasn't really worried about bullies, but preditors who might be pretending to be a teen friend.  For most of her teen years, until right before she went off to college she used a computer in the family room.  But late in her senior year I got her a laptop and by then I just had to trust her, she was about to leave for college.

Hi Dorie, This is excellent advice and I'm glad to be past the teenage stage. When my girls were young and wanted to be online, it was with the understanding I had to have their passwords.

Dorie, I have teenage cousins that I'm connected with on Instagram and some of the comments from their "friends" is very concerning. These younger generations have so much more pressure on them nowadays to dress/look/act/etc. a certain way. Parents do need to be involved and aware of what's going on in this area.

Dorie, if I had a teenager out there on social media, learning half as much about how it all works would be a daunting challenge.  So many of the parents I know are relying on their children to teach them what to do and how to connect.
