Do Not Judge a Book by Its Cover

Last week Fidelity National Title sponsored an education class on “Cultural Competency”.  The instructor shared the following interesting YouTube with us; it made you anxious, laugh and learned to not judge a book by its cover.

Hi, Kwee...Both videos are excellent. The twist at the end of the first one is a good one and makes you think. That kid is a really awesome dancer, too. That is a sad video and it did make me think.

The second video is funny. That woman does a really great English accent.

Randy Mitchelson is right. Although awkward, it's still a topic that must be addressed, sad but true. The first one was intense for me and I think it has a lot to do with the media when they show those videos of the criminal in the convenience stores. They send a universal message that causes people to live in fear. But that older woman shopping with the wary eye, you could see her judging him the entire time but when she slipped the merchandise into her own bag and the cashier was smiling, not even imagining that someone like her would steal was really, really sad.

The second video cuts right to the chase about diversity. It's like people are becoming onions and the other person keeps trying to peel back the layers to find out what skin they are. Although ridiculous, sadly, it's true.

Thanks for sharing these two great videos.

Kwee, both videos hold suck powerful messages about not Juding. As Humans we all tend to Judge even though we shouldn't. I love the ending of the first video where the old lady takes the chocolate and the second video out takes made me laugh. Loved it.

By the way you must check out Toni Weidmans blog post she wrote about you. Just click on this link.

Hi Kwee, I like them both.  I have seen the second one before but not the first one.  It amazes me how some elderly feel entitled, I see them going through the grocery stores reaching into the bins sampling candies, etc.

Kwee, that was an excellent video, and so true, we cannot judge a book by its cover.    Sad the older lady stole a candy bar!

Kwee, We should't be quick to judge but that is human nature. All we can do is be aware and openminded and not lable everyone alike.

Never judge other people by their appearance or their accent. I have an accent and it still creates some awkward moments when I meet someone for a very first time. Of course, it is always a question: 'where are you from'.
