What a beautiful fall weekend Mother Nature has planned for us. It’s going to be in the mid 70’s and with clear skies. Great weekend weather for hiking and to have a bonfire at night.

It’s the weekend to eat Pasties! Its Mineral Point’s Cornish Festival and boy do they like to celebrate. Festivities start on Friday September 26 and go until Sunday September 28th. Food is the star of this festival, pancake breakfast, local food venders and the wonderful Cornish pasty. There will be many different workshops to attend, traditional Celtic music, pub games, Irish Dancers & several bus tours. The big event is the Pasty Picnic Supper at the Walker House. How can you go wrong with yummy veggies & meat wrapped in a Cornish Crust? You can’t.

Majestic American Symbol, the American Bald Eagle. Friday September 26th 11:30 to 1:30 the Wisconsin Veterans Museum present Eagles on the Square. It’s the 150 years anniversary of Old Abe, the bald eagle mascot of the 8th Wisconsin being presented to the people of Wisconsin. To celebrate the museum is hosting a live bald eagle with handler Friday 26th in its courtyard on State St. Get up close and learn from the experts about Bald Eagles and what it takes to care for them. A short educational talk will be conducted every 30 minutes with time for pictures afterward.

Jazz, Big Band & Swing music fill the Streets. It’s time for Strollin’ First Settlement this Friday September 26th. Greater Madison Jazz ​Consortium’s Strollin’ jazz crawl offers up a wide array of jazz styles, from big band to western swing, from classic organ trio to vocals from the Great American Songbook, and more. Its 8 hours of non-stop jazz, from 4:30 PM past Midnight, at 4 venues in the King-East Wilson Street area just east of Madison’s Capitol Square.

Enjoy a crisp fall evening with glowing bonfires, frothy brews and live music surrounded by Olbrich’s outdoor gardens at CRACKLE: Fire & Froth! Bring lawn chairs and blankets to spread out on Olbrich’s Great Lawn among the warmth and light of 10 crackling bonfires. Help Celebrate Overture Center’s 10 yr. anniversary with 10fest.  Saturday September 27th Overture will be transforming their Downtown neighborhood into a performing arts circus. Circus wagons will roll down from the famed Circus World Museum in Baraboo and line the streets around Overture Center. There will be outdoor trapeze artists, roving performers and even a spot for you and the kids to try your hand at circus skills! Inside and out, we’ll have more than 20 performances, all FREE! There will also be several stages for live music to enjoy. You always wanted to run away to the circus, now is your chance.

Crazy about Bungalows? You will learn all about them during the Marquette Bungalow Walking Tour Saturday September 27th. The 47 Craftsman style bungalows in this small historic district at the densest concentration of Craftsman style homes in the city. They weren’t designed by trained architects, but craftsmen working for the Karrels Building Company between 1924 and 1929. Learn about jerkinhead dormers, battered piers, and why the 48th house is not a bungalow.

Calling all Mini Cooper Drivers… and their pooches! Sunday September 28th Dane Co Humane Society is hosting a Mini Rally.  Join your fellow Mini supporters and hit the road for a beautiful road rally cruise throughout the Madison area. All drivers will be meeting at the MINI of Madison dealership at 9am for a morning breakfast and refreshments. From there, it’s back on the road again! There will be a $25 donation required for registration for the Mini Cooper Road Rally.
