Hey Bob! How are you doing? I wanted to stop by and leave a comment. I have not been doing much of that lately. I just wanted to let you know that I just love seeing your cheerful smile.

So Bob... what does a Grouse taste like? Is it like Chicken or duck? I don't like duck, but I do love chicken.

Good Question Sussie, like a very small lean chicken, though I am not the best judge since I have eaten very few of them.

Thank you so much for stopping by, your smiling face is always a pleasure too!!

Bob, the Ruffed Grouse is a beautiful bird! I never saw one that close before and I'm glad I got to see your photo. Your passion for the outdoors is something I appreciate. You live in such a beautiful part of the country and I enjoy reading your stories.

Thank you Patricia, we do live in a beautiful part of the country, and Ruffed Grouse are beautiful too, though that is generally not my first thought when I encounter them close up.  Generally these encounters are more akin to an explosion in your face, maybe I will write a blog about this phenomonon someday entiltled "Ruffed Grouse, A Heart Attack Waiting To Happen".

Joe, I think that you may be onto something, less than a thousand points to go and 7 blogs yet to write today, I hope that I can find some time to get them all written.

Thanks Barbara, and yes they are very similar to cornish game hens, maybe a little more flavorful, but the game hens have the advantage of no hidden shot in the meat.

Bob: For those who have never enjoyed eating grouse, they are missing a treat. I am sure the banquet will serve other fare, as well, but you got me remembering my past!
