Best Big-City Bargains - YES, We're Number 1!

Who would have thought that Time would rank Charlotte #1 in their recent "Best Big-City Bargains" list? Why we've known it all along! Living in Charlotte provides more than just bargains though - we have professional sports, live among incredibly artistically talented actors, designers, painters and more; we live in the second largest financial city in the WORLD!  We live in one of the country's top energy sectors as well.

Charlotte #1 City for Affordable Living

Diversity abounds in Charlotte - including housing.  We have traditional homes, modern homes, bungalows and more!  Neighborhoods are diversified and range from minimalist, hip condos in walkable communities to luxury homes on several acres in the suburbs to amenity-filled communities at one of our lakes.  From new construction homes in Charlotte to fabulous historic homes in and around the area.

We live in an area with not only strong public schools but, a plethora of high-ranking private schools.  In our humble opinion, our Parks & Recreation are second to none as well!  We have small parks and sprawling parks with lots to do and the city is filled with neighborhood sidewalks, perfect for that after-work stroll or early morning jog.

Employment is strong in Charlotte as well - not only a plus for our community as a whole but, for those relocating to the area as well as recent college graduates.  Charlotte is THE place for employment and THE place to live!

Charlotte a "Big-City Bargain?"  You're darned skippy it is!  Charlotte is ranked #1 in best places to live based on economic strength, housing appreciation and pricing forecasts and livability.  Of course we may be biased but, there's no surprise here on this one!

Debe I have never been to Charlotte, bt everyone I know who has been to Charlotte have nothing but great things to say about it.  So I would say the Times got it right in ranking Charlotte on their "Best Big-City Bargains" list.

Hi Debe -- it's nice to see attention paid to our communities/cities from outside sources.   I've never been to Charlotte but the city has always fascinated me for the reasons you mention here and in each post you write.  Have a great week.

Hi Debe, If I had to mention two of the most successful cities it would be Charlotte and Austin. The real irony is that too few on the national arena pay attention to the fact that there is housing affordability for the many business and industries to continuing their growth. When good examples exist , it drives me a little crazy that other areas don't get it.

Charlotte is BEAUTIFUL.... With the trees, lush landscaping and great weather, I could definitely understand why.

Thank you, Michael!  I do love our city and just couldn't imagine living elsewhere!

William - I agree wholeheartedly!  Our Chamber of Commerce consistently compares us to our "sister city," Austin.  We "got it" and that kept Charlotte alive during the recession too.

Loreena, Well, thank you!  We are so proud of our beautiful Queen City!
