Serendipity Sunday ... The Smell of Autumn is in The Air!

Pumpkin pie

I am so enjoying the cooler weather and the low humidity and am welcoming autumn.  Everything I see and read about has something to do with pumpkin and spices such as clove, ginger, nutmeg and etc.

This morning I decided to get out all of the needed ingredients and whip up a homemade pumpkin pie.  I just got the pie out of the oven and it smells delicious.  The smell of autumn is in the air.

As you can see .. I am ready and excited about this season as well as the holidays.  There is so much to be grateful for each and everyday.  Many times it is the little things that mean the most.

I also enjoy getting out our family recipes for it brings back so many memories of family who are no longer here.

What could you bake that brings back many cherished memories.  Do it for you will enjoy as well as maintain family traditions.

Love the fall and the holidays for baking. It always makes me wonder why we don't eat these types of foods, such as turkey and pumpkin pie, year-round.

We had the smell in the or today as one of the neighbors must have lit their fireplace for the first time and that fresh buring wood smell was all over

Hi Judith, I love the smell and the taste of homemade pumpkin pie. No preservatives, a crust you can actually eat, all sounds great to me. My Mom was an amazing cook and baker and lots of neighborhood kids shared in that bounty.

I make cherry pie for family because our Grandmother always did and we had it 3 days prior to her passing.

You now have me craving for a slice of pumpkin pie.

You should blog about your secret family recipe.

Judith - the pumpkins pies and pumpkins bring memories back to our home.  We were busy doing this when our children were young.

Good morning Judith,  I know what you mean about the season.  Everything around here is either apples or pumpkins.  Apple pie with ice cream or pumpkin pie with whip cream on top sounds good to me.  Many of the fall festivals serve apple dumplings with ice cream and cinnamon sprinkled on top.
