The key to getting the house you want without a degree in Psychology.

The key to getting the house you want without a degree in Psychology by Richard WeisserIn all of my years in real estate I have had clients that have agonized over every facet of the real estate transaction.

They try to analyze everything, including the motives of the other parties in the transaction.

I have had too many questions that began something like:

“Why do you suppose they…?”

Or:

“What do you think they would say if we…?

Or:

“How far should we push to….?”

Buying a house is NOT like playing poker. It is a business transaction.

And it should be treated as one!

Richard, although it's not like buying apples at the grocery store, over-analysis can definitely stop buyers and sellers in their tracks. I agree, let's get on with it.

Oh, do I know what you mean!  Back in the heady days when houses in our area were appreciating wildly, buyers would analyze and over analyze how much the sellers were "making" on the sale and then determine for the sellers how much was "enough profit."  Really, as if it were anyone's business...questions about motivation, questions about why they are selling, questions, questions, questions.  Consider the comps, consider if you actually WANT the house and make a decision.
