Richie Naggar came up with a very interesting contest this month, Scratch The Itch With Rich. It caught us in a time of transition for our business as we consider the merits of possibly starting our own brokerage and a potential name change.
When I got my license in early 2013, my wife Tammie White and I created TW Realty Group as a team under the banner of a sizable local brokerage. We've tried a number of taglines playing off the "TW".
Recently I wrote a post about tag-lines titled You Don't Need Teeth To Eat This Meat. It was on the back of a food truck selling Bar-B-Q chicken and fish. It was suggested that in our Tennessee market maybe we should go with, You Don't Need Teeth To Use This Realtor! Hmmm, No...I don't think so. I'm not so sure of our target market with that one!
We briefly considered "TWo Heads Are Better Than One". Nope. We were concerned that prospective clients might be scared away by the visuals that might result from that little gem.
We thought of playing off our last name, "White", as in Buying and Selling Homes The White Way. While I like it in some ways because it begs the question, "what's your way", you can see that it could be problematic for a number of other reasons. Again, hmmm.
All this being said, the truth is that our tag-line is still a work in progress. We feel our business name and tag-line need to reflect who we really are. I do like the tag-line "Bringing You Southern House-pitality". It fits our target market in Middle Tennessee very well. One of the things we noticed right away when we came to this part of the country was how most people we met were so incredibly friendly and courteous. It might be the one. We want to extend that sense of being approachable yet professional to our prospective clients, but is it too cheesy? Our daughter thinks so.
So...Rich (and the outstanding panel of Judges), sorry, but our tag-line is a work in progress.
