Most who know of my most recent leg of my career see that I travel quite a bit for my job. Most of the travels are for appraisal projects, some are for industry workgroups (I help write the AQB Certified General License Exam), and other travels are for real estate consulting projects. Most of the time I travel in the domestic US, but a few times I had appraisal projects outside the U.S. The first project consisted of a hotel casino development in Jaco Beach, Costa Rica...neat project on the Pacific. My wife and I went together and ended up zip lining in the rain forest and surfing. The other trip brought us to Aruba to appraise two all inclusive beach resorts, a golf course, and an upscale time share resort. These projects were fun, but were also the most challenging of my career.
Today's project takes me to Chicago to appraise 7 parking garages, and another in Indianapolis tomorrow. While not as exotic as Aruba or Costa Rica, being an appraiser that can do unique properties has put me in demand. Next week I'm in Cleveland for two different projects, a large retail building and a consulting job for historic preservation easement. The funniest thing about this flurry of travels, I'm already licensed in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio as well as Florida, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Well time to take off, and typing a blog on an iphone is no fun
