Secret Launch Site Found
It's a bird, it's a plane...no, not a plane.  Oh, wow, it's a jet, a Jacobson Jet and you can see them being dropped off and picked up every day in Chandler.  You might be wondering why  there are so many Jacobson Jets, but the intrigue doesn't stop there.  Every year lots of high tech building and assembly is rumored to be taking place at Jacobson Elementary School, the home of all the Jacobson Jets.  There have even been strange lights and sounds along with mounting evidence that verifies Jacobson Elementary is defiantly a rocket launch site!

This School Is Amazing!
Jacobson Elementary School has a 10 out of 10 score at GreatSchools and a 5 star rating at Schooldigger! This  school is located at 1515 NW Jacaranda Parkway in Chandler and home to 862 KG through 6th grade students.  In the Chandler School District Jacobson Elementary is #4 out of 27 schools and ranked better than 95.9% of elementary schools in Arizona.   This school enjoys a 4 star online community rating with reviews like this one that says "This school is amazing! After having my daughters at a private school for several years, I can honestly say the academics at Jacobson are more challenging and well rounded. The teachers really care about the students and the principal knows every student by name. My oldest daughter was in the advanced program and my youngest daughter needed speech therapy, both were easy to access and valuable. I LOVE this school and feel very fortunate that my children have an opportunity to attend a great school right in our own neighborhood.--a parent."  This school has been reviewed over 50 times by parents and community leaders.  Listen to what another parent writes about her son's experience at this school "This has been my son's first year at Jacobson and I could not have been more pleased. He's gifted with fairly severe ADHD. Other school districts had wanted to put him in a special needs classroom. Only Chandler agreed with us that he should be put in the gifted program where he would be challenged academically and socially. Jacobson has given him the support he needed to succeed in the gifted program. They have been responsive to all our concerns and usually were way ahead of us. I don't think we could have had a better experience. The teachers and resource teacher have been phenomenal--a parent."  Arizona Department of Education gives letter grades to all schools based on an achievement formula calculated through annual testing.  Schools are graded by the number of students who pass and the amount of educational progress made during the year.   The Arizona Department of Education has issued Jacobson Elementary School an "A" letter grade.

Space Explorers Club
Developed by NASA's Young Astronaut Club, the Space Explorers Club at Jacobson Elementary is a program that introduces and reinforces a variety of space and earth science-related subjects.  Volunteers interact with students using a combination of verbal discussion and lots of hands-on activities.  Students will explore the 8 major planets in our solar system, their moons and the Sun.  They will learn about visible light, volcanoes and the earth's natural resources.  Using fun hands-on activities they will demonstrate Sir Isaac Newton's 3rd law of motion which states "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction".   The best part for many students is the assembly and launch of their own model rocket.  Rockets are usually assembled in the month of February and launched in March.  Sixth grade students participate in a simulated mission at the Arizona Challenger Space Center in Peoria during the 3rd and 4th quarter.  This program varies by grade level and becomes increasingly more challenging for students as they progress.

Art Masterpiece is Here!
Chandler Unified School District offers a national art enrichment program called Art Masterpiece.  Every month, students have an opportunity to create their own “masterpiece” after they receive a lesson about a master artist.  These lessons include a PowerPoint presentation that showcase biographical information about the artist along with samples of their masterworks.   The students try and implement that artist’s particular style and technique as they create their own masterpieces.  Jacobson Elementary also has a very popular after school club called "Battle of the Books".  This club is sponsored by Chandler Schools, Chandler Public Library and is open to 5th and 6th grade students.  Student are formed into teams of 1 to 3 students and participate 3 times per year in competition.  Team members will read 4 books for each competition and then must answer questions on the assigned books as a team.  Teams with the highest score have the chance to compete with other schools within the Chandler district.

It's Good To Be Green!
Teaching your children to participate in recycling just became a lot easier because Jacobson Elementary participates in a "green" program.  Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, school papers, notebooks, folders, junk mail, envelopes and phone books are all collected in a bin located on campus.  The recycle bin is located to the east of the office and cafeteria. It is green and yellow and labeled “Paper Retriever”.  The PTO  also collects Capri Sun pouches as an ongoing fund raiser.
