Historic Aldridge Place in Austin, Texas 78754
Austin has so many charming communities and one of them is called “Aldridge Place” and it’s located in the center of Austin, Texas. In the early 1910’s this community was touted as the first premier development in Austin. Many of Austin’s most prominent residents resided in the neighborhood.
I love driving through Aldridge Place today because it’s been able to maintain a unique blend of old Austin. Its tree line streets and exotic landscape oozes such character! There is a wonderful blend of distinctive styles and sizes. Some majestic houses hold historic designations. Some houses have never been on the market since they were built.
Adams-Hemphill Park is a popular park found in the middle of Aldridge Place and is somewhat hidden behind 30th Street. It’s within walking distance to neighboring Trudy’s, Spider House and UT. A perfect place for dog walking, Frisbee throwing, kite flying and even a little sun bathing. There is a full basketball court (if you’re looking for a game should be one to jump in almost any hour of the day) and 1 adult and 1 child set of swings.
There is currently a movement to establish Aldridge Place and the NUNA area as a Local Historic District. Hope this becomes a reality to guard the neighborhoods integrity and preserve its historic character.
